There isn't a wide variety of plants in the Alpine Tundra. These plants include: perennial plants/grasses, lichens, dwarfed shrubs, heaths, phacelia and a small selection of flowers.
Plant Adaptations
Vegetation in the Alpine Tundra region is relatively scarce due to the harsh climate and poor soil conditions. Most lichen lives/grows on rocks. The lichen is able to survive in this habitat because of the boulder fields. Phacelia have leaves that have several narrow spreading lobes and grow around the stem. They are covered with silky, wooly hairs to protect themselves from harmful species. The lower leaves are large and the upper leaves get smaller.
