There are quite a few types of animals in the Alpine Tundra including the following: mountain goats, caribou, marmots, Clark's Nutcracker, pikas and many more species.
Animal Adaptations
A very small amount of wildlife in found in the Alpine Tundra year round. Only a few use the Alpine Tundra as a habitat year round are marmots and pikas. Each of them have different adaptations to survive in this habitat. Yellow Bellied marmots hibernate for 8 months of the year in the soil of the Arctic Tundra. Pikas do not hibernate, but hide under rocks in the boulder feild. Also, they store food in haypiles and munch them until real food is available.
